For the card I have used the heart from the "Sprinkled Expressions" stamp set along with "love" from "Outlined Occasions" stamp set can you see what the balloon basket and clouds are made from? Its the build a cupcake punch! I've used the petal cone die and have made a rosette from the scalloped semi circle and added a sentiment from the Sprinkled stamp set, finished off with whisper white grosgrain ribbon.

Hmmm, what can I say... blogging is not my strong point as you may have gathered! It's been a busy time with doing our house up, which resulted in my crafty stuff being packed up most of the time.... I only delved in if I had to make a card as it all seemed too much effort to find anything..... but now I have a craft area... well, nearly! Our utility room has been kitted out with units and I've (just about) managed to cram everything in (had to push it all in and slam the door shut quick before it fell out!) I'm sure some of you can sympathise with that? I think last year if I couldn't find something I just ordered more!

I recently became an auntie again to my sisters little boy Marley... he was born on Christmas Eve, and this is the card I made to welcome him.

This uses the All in the Family set (item 113488) £41.95 along with a retired alphabet, colours are old olive, night of navy & real red on whisper white.

Convention 2010

I have so much to tell you! The Stampin'Up! European Convention was held at Addington Palace, Surrey on the 5th & 6th November and I was lucky enough to go. Last year it was held in Frankfurt so I didn't get the chance, but I'm SO pleased I went this year. It was a chance to meet up with the demonstrators I chat with on ILWS (in love with stamping forum), see product demonstrations from the top demos and get to craft too!

My swaps - it's a good chance to get ideas from other people - I used En Francais background stamp with Crumb Cake ink/card, and stamped over with the Medallion background stamp in choc chip and finished it off by punching and layering the middle of the medallion & popping on a rhinestone

This is where we collected our convention bag... it's very bright and will be a talking point when I use it I'm sure! Inside wre two stamp sets, a pen and the schedule for the two days


Cookies! These welcomed us when we got inside the palace and were served every time we had a coffee break! Hard life, eh?

The view from the balcony.... this is where a lot of the swapping took place. There was also lots of display boards and it also led to the room which held "Memento Mall" - a place to buy SU merchandise.

However, if you would like your own lovely glossy REAL paper version, please contact me and I can either pop it in the post to you (£4) or you can collect from me (£3). The cover price should be £5.95!

There are lots of new additions to this catalogue... check out the Clear mount stamps... the same great quality rubber that you've come to expect from Stampin'Up!, but with all that wood space saved! Just pop them onto your acrylic block and away you go!

The punches have all been re-vamped into the slimmer, more stackable style with lots more designs!

Yay! I've organised a workshop! And it's making Christmas cards... a sneaky peeky is below........

It is planned for Saturday, 2nd October at my local hall in Frating, Essex. We will be making 30 Christmas cards using the Christmas Jingle simply scrapping kit.... well, you will be supplied with materials for 30 cards, whether or not you'll have time to make them all will be another matter! Look who's come to stay

I used to have a cat. His name was Spike. He was a gorgeous furry little bundle and he lasted an incredible amount of time considering how much he had wrong with him.... long story that I won't bore you with, but I'll just say thank heavens for pet insurance, as he was a bit of a reject.... anyway.... at the time that he passed away, our kids were about 3 years old, and to be honest, I couldn't face getting another pet and looking after all of them! Now the time is right, (and we can't have another cat as we live near a very busy and fast main road), and we thought that bunnies were our next choice. I've been hinting at hubby and getting the kids to work on him too (I know, naughty but it has to be done) and YAY, just at the right time, my lovely downline Rachael was trying to find homes for her baby rabbits.... so, without further ado, I'd like to introduce Pie and Stew to you....

Teacher gifts

Oh my goodness, it's been over a month since I last posted about my poppies... they've all gone now... just a field full of dead stalks :-(

Anyway, it's the time of year when you have to start thinking about teacher gifts. Usually ours get a hand made card and a box of chocolates (because I leave everything to the last minute!). I've tried to make a bit of effort this year as we are extra thankful for the extra work our class teacher and teaching assistants make. This is because my daughter is partially sighted and needs a bit of extra help (although she is a bit stubborn like her mum and doesn't like accepting it)... anyway going off the point now! This is what I made

OK, so, what are they? Bookmarks.... I dabble a bit with jewellery making too, so I had jump rings, the bookmark thingies and beads and bits. The letters are stamped using a Stampin Up alpha onto shrink plastic and cut out with various scallop punches - square - oval & circle, and then holes punched with the crop o dile (make sure you do it before you heat otherwise you wont be able to!) join them up with jump rings and then hang from the book mark thingy (technical talk)

The card and pouch have been stamped using the two step stamp set called Greenhouse Garden... very effective I think, and very easy to do but I do recommend using a stampamajig to position them correctly... the petals have that extra dimension to them.

I love poppies and sunflowers... my favourite flowers.... so when I saw a man standing on a verge two minutes away from my house the other day, I looked a bit harder in the direction he was facing.... through the hedge was a sea of red......

So I stopped on the way to work this morning and took this picture. I'm no photographer by any means, but I hope I captured it OK....

I've seen a lot of these cards around lately, so thought I'd have a go at making some myself.... people are so impressed when they receive them as they look so technical!

I love these papers! They're from the Bella bleu pack.... the top one is coupled with Not quite Navy cardstock & ink, the bottom one with Chocolate chip. And of course... The flight of the butterfly and matching butterfly punch. Love, love, love the butterflies! Bad blogger & two cards!

Do you ever feel that there's just not enough time in the day? I work full time, and get home at 6pm.... so I spend some time with my kids (8 year old twins) and then after we've spent some time together, done reading and bedtime, it's time for tea.... usually at about 9-9.30 I start to think about what to do with the rest of my evening..... and a few crafty bits come out - not much time for blogging. I'm rubbish at just making cards for general consumption..... they usually have to be for a specific purpose... do you know what I mean? I only get inspired if I know WHO the card is going to be for. The card below was for my best friend Jackie... she thought I was being a right soppy cow when I gave her it on Sunday.

Anyway for this card I used the "A rose is a rose" stamp set, along with "Ocassional greetings" for the "my dear kind and wonderful friend" sentiment... the colours used are pale and perfect plum. It's funny.. when I saw that rose set I hated it with a vengeance... but after seeing some wonderful samples on ILWS, I HAD to have it! Here's another card that I made for a birthday at the beginning of Feb....

It uses the medallion background stamp.... this has been stamped in Basic Black and the middle of the image has been punched and layered with dimensionals and a brad used in the middle.... The sentiment is one of the ones from Whimsical Words which was a saleabration set (no longer available).

Who's never used a wheel stamp before?

I hadn't until I signed up with SU! I had the spotty one in my starter kit, but just couldn't get the hang of it so pushed into a box and forgot about it. One of my fellow SU! demonstrators has just hosted a Wheel card swap - an ideal opportunity to find out how other demonstrators use theirs, and get some ideas. So, I opted in....... and then quite honestly regretted it! That sounds bad, but the deadline was the 27th July to get them in by, and I wouldn't be getting back from my holiday until the 25th, so the pressure was on to create and send off before I left! Now, usually I work well under pressure.... my best cards are made when I have just hours to go before they're needed..... but when I'm having to use something I'm not used to, it's a different story!

For my card I used the SU! vellum paper, used the versamark pad with the wheel and sprinkled over SU! white embossing powder (believe me this powder is so much better than that horrible DoCraft stuff!), heat set it and then turned it over to colour from behind. The result you get is quite subtle, so choose a colour that's a bit deeper than you'd usually use (I used my SU! markers). The vellum was then wrapped around my card blank (So Saffron), and secured with Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon. The sentiment is from the Oval All stamp set.... coloured with the same markers as before and punched using the Oval and scalloped oval punches. I was very pleased with the result.... here's more of a close up

My swaps from the other girls should be waiting for me at home today, but I've seen a sneek peak of them online, and they all look fab! I can't wait to see them all. I'm so pleased that I made the effort now to use something that I'd ignored for so long.....

So, I challenge you to dig out something you've either never used, or have neglected and see what you come up with!

OK, so it's taken a couple of lunch breaks to search for new backgrounds and then to get them to work with my templates.... and then of course there are fonts to change and font colours to match up, but I think I'm finally there! What do you think? I found this background from "Blogger Boutique" - there is a "freebie" section there.... this was my favourite one....

The only trouble is do I have to make sure the cards I make don't clash with my new colour scheme?

A passion for ProMarkers

So, there's a new challenge blog.... and it's all about Letraset ProMarkers! I don't know how I stumbled across it, but I'm pleased that I have.... I was sent a few of the pastel shades years ago (before they became trendy!) and loved the effect they gave, but didn't have enough colours to be able to do any pictures justice... but my collection has grown recently (ooopsy, how did that happen?)... anyway, here is my entry. I hope you like it.

Materials used: H&S image, Prima flowers, papers are from a book of free ones with a mag

"With love" stamp, buttons, oval & scallop edge punches are Stampin'Up!

Promarker colours - Ruby red, blush, marine, pastel beige, moss, henna, cool grey 4, pastel blue, amethyst and rose pink (I think that's it!)

Stamp with Us has launched, and here's what I made...

Friday night saw the launch of Stamp with Us. There was online chat and challenges... I was a bit late starting the first one - unfortunately it clashed with the kids reading and bedtime... but I managed to scrape in (just) by the deadline. Every one who had signed up had been sent a little pack of card and a strip of ribbon... we had to re-create or make our own version of a card on the front of the Stampin'Up! Idea book and catalogue.... Here is my effort.... the 2nd challenge was to use the last item you purchased from SU! (Difficult for me to pinpoint exactly, there's so much!).

But as you can see, I went for the Garden Whimsy stamp set. We also had to use 2 buttons, some red ribbon and something black.....

Very simple, but I love the black and red together....

Can't wait for the next round of challenges and in the meantime, I have a project to make.

Don't worry if you haven't signed up yet, the classes projects can be completed in your own time, so as long as you join up and download before the end of the Stamp with Us period, you can still benefit from them.

A spinning football card

It's my best friends birthday today, and she's a bit of a footie fan. So, because I always try to personalise my cards for friends & family, this one has a bit of an Ipswich Football Club theme..... the little footballers are MAMBI stamps that I've had for a while, and the "40" was printed and punched out using my SU punches. I've cut into the green card to make a fringe, cut the aperture out and put a message behind, and duplicated it for the main message above. The football was a clipart image that was also punched out. So, of course when the card is moved from side to side, the football spins along !!

Heartfelt

OK, this is rapidly becoming a favourite of mine... it is from the "Heartfelt" set which was a hostess level 3 (& has just been retired from the catalogue)... it is so easy !! Are you familiar with two step stamping? You basically have two versions of the same image, one with just an outline on, the other with more detail... first of all you ink up the detailed stamp with lighter shades of your chosen colour... in this case I have used the SU markers.... you then stamp.... then using darker shades, ink/colour the outline stamp. Now, here is the bit that can be a bit tricky - how do you line up the two stamped images? Easy... you use a stamp-a-majig. You stamp your image once on to the perspex, re-ink, line up the perspex over the top of the area to stamp on, remove the perspex and then stamp away! Don't forget to "huff" on the stamp to freshen up the ink though.... and have you noticed how the flower, card, and designer paper all match... nice? It took 15 minutes tops!

Stampin' Up! New challenge blog

Once a fortnight a new challenge will be posted and you could win some yummy SU stash. This is my first effort, although the picture has a distinct lilac hue about it! I must get a decent camera!

Materials used: Naturals ivory card for the card blank, close to cocoa for the band across, the flower is from the True Friend stamp set (as is the watermarked flower next to it)layered scallop circles are punched from barely banana and close to cocoa c/s and the flower was coloured in using the Stampin' Write markers (barely banana, only orange & close to cocoa). "To you from me" is from the hostess set "best yet". Oh yes, and not to forget the chocolate chip grossgrain ribbon.

I've used pale plum & perfect plum cardstock. The block of text is stamped in versamark and heat embossed with clear powder, the background swirly stamp is also using versamark.

How exciting.... Yes, I know, sad isn't it? But it's only the 2nd ever SU! catty that's been produced for the UK market.... so many expectations. I think some demos have been disappointed, but pretty much everybody wanted the scallop edge punch, and we have got it!! I can't post a link to the new catalogue yet, as it doesn't go live until 1st October, but I've attached (hopefully) some sneak previews of four of the new stamp sets. All of the new sets will be die cut, so mounting them will be soooo much easier!

Don't forget, you don't have to have a workshop to be able to order your goodies, just email me!!

For those of you who are new to Stampin' Up!..... don't be put off by the prices! At first sight I freaked too.... work out how much each stamp in the set costs, take in to consideration that everything is co-ordinating and the hassle factor of getting everything to match is completely taken away...... SU! products are fantastic to work with, such clear impressions from the stamps - you won't believe it until you use them!
